Paris is a magical city to visit any time of the year and a classic destination for school tours.

Taking a sightseeing boat along the River Seine, admiring iconic sights such as the Eiffel Tower and Notre Damme and visiting the city’s top class museums are some of the must-do activities on a trip to Paris.

3 – BARCELONA

Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia, is another favourite for school trips abroad. It is a great city to explore from many angles.

From a cultural and artistic point of view students can admire the work of Modernist architect Antoni Gaudi across the city; while soccer and sports fans will be delighted to visit the Camp Nou, the home of local greats Barcelona FC.

A school trip to Barcelona can be easily combined with a full day at PortAventura World theme park in Salou on the Costa Daurada, for some thrilling rides.

4 – WWII BATTLEFIELDS

2024 will mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings and the Battle of Normandy which took place in June 1944 and marked the beginning of the end of WWII.

Many events and ceremonies will take place across Normandy, in Northern France, to remember this particular chapter of Europe’s most dramatic history. 5 – GENEVA AND CERN

Located just outside Geneva, the European Organization for Nuclear Research or CERN is a dream destination for budding young scientists. Considered ‘the home of Science’, hundreds of scientists and researchers work in CERN in the areas of particle physics and computing, since it was founded in 1954.

It was here where the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the world’s largest and most powerful particle accelerator, was created in 2008 to help scientists understand a bit better the mysteries of the universe. It was also at CERN where the very first website went live back in 1991.

6 – CULTURE AND POLITICS IN THE USA

Washington DC and New York City are two of our top requests for school trips to the USA and definitely great options for 2024.

For world-class museums such as MoMa and Guggenheim, iconic architecture such as the Empire State Building and the bright lights of Broadway, New York City is a classic favourite.

Washington DC is a fantastic place to visit for students with an interest in American politics and history. The capital of the USA since 1790, Washington DC is named after one of its founding fathers and is home to the White House and the US Capitol, as well as the Lincoln Memorial, the Martin Luther King Memorial and superb museums and galleries.
