One of the UK’s largest education recruitment agencies, AWS, acquires Career Teachers

Affinity Workforce Solutions (AWS), one of the UK’s largest education recruitment agencies, has acquired specialist education recruitment company Career Teachers as part of its long-term goal to become the UK market leader in education.

The addition of Career Teachers demonstrates AWS’ ambition to grow steadily as part of its mission to supply multi-academy trusts (MATs) and schools with high quality candidates who make a real difference to children and young people.

Career Teachers is an established and trusted education recruitment company that provides teachers and support staff to primary, secondary and SEND schools throughout the UK. It was the only education recruitment company of the previous group owner and incorporates Celsian Education, which was originally formed in 1997.

It operates from eight branches across the UK and works with several MATs and schools nationwide, including Academies Enterprise Trust.

The acquisition cements AWS’ position as one of the largest providers in the education recruitment sector, with Career Teachers now sitting alongside CER, Monarch Education & Sugarman Education in the AWS brand portfolio.

Esme Bianchi-Barry, CEO of AWS, said: “Career Teachers fits perfectly into the AWS portfolio, its values mirror ours – putting people at the heart of everything, combined with a genuine passion for the education children and young people.

“Adding the Career Teachers team of experienced, passionate people gives our overall AWS strategy an even more compelling story to clients and candidates and allows us to have greater depth and capabilities across key markets.”

Career Teachers will operate as a separate brand to the existing AWS brands under its own experienced management team headed by Stewart McCoy, Managing Director.

Its staff members will not see a difference in the day-to-day operations, continuing with the same line managers, responsibilities, salary and commission structure, while receiving further benefits.

Stewart McCoy said: “We feel that Career Teachers will benefit greatly from joining a portfolio of specialist education recruitment brands, where our staff will be able to share best practices and ideas amongst a wider pool of colleagues.

“Career Teachers was the only education recruitment company of the previous group owners, so the opportunities for sharing best practices and drawing on experiences were limited.

“Now Career Teachers is part of a specialist education group it means all our team has access to more specialist support, which will help us deliver a better service to our clients.”
