Generation Logistics launches new online hub for teachers and career advisors

April 2024: Generation Logistics, an awareness campaign for the logistics sector, has launched its brand new Education Hub to support teachers and careers advisors as they mould the next generation of talent.

Research carried out for the campaign found that over 90% of young people have never considered the logistics sector as a career option¹. With this in mind, Generation Logistics is raising awareness of the breadth of roles and opportunities that are available to young people and aims to inspire the country’s future workforce.

Created to communicate the role of logistics to the modern world and breadth of opportunities available to future employees, the Education Hub is an online, downloadable resource library of KS3 to KS5 curriculum-relevant material for teachers and career advisors. Featuring engaging lesson activities, student-ready tools and many other resources, all curriculum-mapped, the Generation Logistics Education Hub provides information and support for teachers as they work to nurture the next generation of talent, while raising awareness of logistics as an exciting and viable career path.

The Generation Logistics Careers Booklet 2024, which is available to download from the campaign’s Education Hub website, provides valuable information about the many different roles within the sector, ranging from engineering, transportation and customer care to robotics and management. Providing all of the information that teachers need in a comprehensive, easy-to-digest downloadable guide, the Careers Booklet is free to download from the website.

The Education Hub also features details of the Generation Logistics Ambassador Network, a collective of passionate employees sharing their stories and the opportunities they took advantage of to progress their careers to date. These Ambassadors are available to spread the logistics message across schools and colleagues through career talks, site visits, classroom activity and more and educators can find more information about how to access these opportunities on the website here.

Bethany Windsor, Programme Director of Generation Logistics, commented: “Having previously worked as a teacher myself, I fully understand the vital role teachers play in shaping young people’s minds and careers. Designed to provide a helping hand to teachers who currently have limited or no information about our sector, the Generation Logistics Education Hub offers a vital platform for teacher resources to help them inform and educate pupils about the opportunities that our sector offers.

“Until now, information for educators about our sector has been sparse, if not non-existent, yet our sector is a key driver of the economy and offers a wealth of opportunities to new recruits as they look to develop a career. We encourage teachers and careers advisors to download the Generation Logistics Careers Booklet from the website as it provides an invaluable resource for young people on a career which has the potential to transform peoples’ lives and provide fulfilling, well paid jobs for new recruits nationwide.”
