Reading Solutions UK celebrates school success this academic year.
Gateshead-based EdTech company Reading Solutions UK (RSUK) has helped over 107,000 students read a combined 9 billion words in the 2022/23 academic year thanks to their online reading development programme, Reading Plus.
Reading Plus is used nationwide in over a thousand schools to help students develop their reading fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
Dubmire Primary Academy have been using Reading Plus for one year and is already seeing excellent results. Assistant Headteacher Heather March said: “Reading Plus is an extremely effective teaching tool for teaching fluency and reading comprehension. Our children have developed their reading stamina alongside their reading rate. Engagement is excellent, and the children are motivated. We can also see how this has enhanced our reading for pleasure culture.”
RSUK also offer additional services to fulfil its mission of improving children’s life chances through reading. This includes extensive free training and support to schools as well as several added value initiatives such as the International Reading Conference and Reading Plus Awards.
RSUK held their second annual International Reading Conference in June 2023. Over 800 educators signed up for the free event to hear from leaders in education, literacy experts, and EdTech specialists, including Teresa Cremin, DfE reading for pleasure expert, and Tim Rasinski, Professor of Reading Education.
RSUK values its customers, creating competitions to celebrate reading excellence and implementing initiatives to encourage reluctant readers.
Last month, they re-launched their annual Reading Plus Awards to showcase the individual schools, teachers, and students who have made extraordinary achievements with Reading Plus.
Cameron Spencer Norton, a 14-year-old student from Bridlington School and winner of ‘Most Effort on Reading Plus (KS3-4)’, said: “It feels amazing to have won, and I am proud of myself because of how well I’ve done with my reading. Thanks to Reading Plus, I have a lot more reading confidence.”
Additionally, RSUK consistently celebrates students’ hard work and dedication all year round in the Reading Plus Star of the Month award and the Reading Plus Term Challenges.
