Hub International, Delighted to Support The Scottish School Food Awards 2023

Hub International is delighted to be sponsoring this year’s Scottish School Food Awards, along with their partner Independents by Sodexo, highlighting a further commitment to young people by promoting the importance of healthy eating and use of fresh seasonal produce within schools. 

 

Hub International offers vocational programs and interactive learning experiences for students, by offering student programs like Food School Scotland, Professional Cookery Chef School, and the Cafe Skills with SQA Cake craft & Barista Skills course.  Hub International’s aim is to equip students with valuable skills and knowledge for careers in the hospitality industry. It is also Hub International’s priority to promote healthy nutrition for children with use of fresh, local, seasonal produce, supporting educators with up to date industry knowledge.

 

Stephanie Wade, CEO of Hub International comments “with young children at school it is important to me on a personal level that we do everything to ensure that children have access to nutritious food, we know how much this has a significant impact on their learning as well as overall health and well-being. On a professional level by emphasising the importance of healthy eating to our young people, we are contributing to a healthier future to the community as a whole.”

 

Utilising industry experienced qualified PVG trainers, Hub International works with schools to help students to develop a holistic understanding of cooking, nutrition, sustainability, and creativity, essential skills for aspiring chefs and hospitality professionals. This aligns with the ethos behind the School Food Awards, promoting responsible and health-conscious cooking practices.

 

Stephanie  continues “ it’s going to be a great evening of celebration, our pro barista tutors will be  running an Espresso Martini bar, supported by coffee roaster Mathew Algie from Glasgow for that after dinner kick!’’

 

Mr Pepin, Deputy Head teacher at Parkhill Secondary School greatly values Hub International’s dedication to supporting vocational education. “ I’ve worked with Hub International for a number of years. They are excellent partners who are willing to go that extra mile and have become a real part of our school community. I am very much looking forward to attending the awards evening and we are also hoping for a win!”

 

Hub International and Independents by Sodexo are sponsoring The Hospitality Education Award. Shortlisted for the award are Eastbank Academy, Glasgow; Firpark Secondary School, Motherwell; Lochend Community High School, Glasgow and Parkhill Secondary School, Glasgow. The black tie awards dinner will be held at George Watson’s College in Edinburgh on Wednesday 29th November. Scottish School Food Awards
