NEW PODCAST DEDICATED TO EXPLORING THE WORLD OF AUTISM
‘Autism Unpacked’ – a brand new podcast dedicated to exploring the multi-faceted world of autism is being launched by Options Autism, a leading provider of education for neurodivergent children and young adults. The podcast promises to bring fresh perspectives and inspiring stories, coupled with support, advice and practical guidance for parents, carers and families of autistic children.
From the end of September, monthly episodes will focus on different subjects, and feature in-depth conversations with a diverse array of guests, including clinical experts in neurodiversity, educators and families.
Emma Sanderson, Managing Director of Options Autism, said: ‘We want Autism Unpacked to be a place where people can find the widest, most useful mix of content – from new thinking, to therapeutic support, challenging misconceptions and clear answers to recurring questions.
‘All too often, there is a gap in the conversation when it comes to autism, so our aim is to foster understanding in an informed yet creative way. The result is that Autism Unpacked will be much more than just another podcast – it will be a chance to be part of lived experiences of what autism means to families, and an opportunity to celebrate what makes neurodiverse children and young people extraordinary.’
Autism Unpacked will be hosted by Rosie Gill-Moss, a prominent podcast host and mum of four children, two of whom are proudly neurodivergent, and a neurodivergent woman herself.
In its first season of eight episodes, Autism Unpacked will cover a broad range of topics, including:
- Understanding and obtaining a diagnosis of autism
- Mainstream school or specialist school – which to choose?
- Navigating the Education, Health and Care Plan process
- A parent’s view – one family’s story
- Thriving beyond school
- Understanding autism in girls
Options Autism, which has schools across the country for children and young adults, is part of Outcomes First Group, the UK’s leading provider of specialist education, which educates more than 3,000 neurodiverse pupils every academic year. The organisation is committed to producing content that informs, entertains and empowers families on their journey, bringing voices which are often under-represented to the fore.
Listen to Autism Unpacked wherever you get your podcasts, including Spotify and Apple, starting from Monday September 30.
