Creating a sense of community
TrilbyTV enhances staff communication across Transform Trust
Transform Trust was established in 2013 with the belief that “education has the power to transform lives and communities.” Made up of 26 primary schools in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, Transform plans to continue trust growth in the coming years. The trust has a strong focus on individual school identity, empowering each school to maintain their autonomy while offering a supportive environment for schools to drive improvement.
The visit began by catching up with Rebecca Meredith, CEO of Transform Trust. Who started by outlining the challenges of communicating across a growing trust. Rebecca explained the difficulty of key messages reaching all staff at the right time,
“Communication is hard. As we’ve grown, the message sometimes wasn’t delivered as we intended it to be. You’re trying to hit the right audience with the right message and hope it sinks in: how was it rippling out as far as we could get it? Beyond the headteacher or the office desk.”
Phil Herd, Executive Headteacher at Transform Trust, went on to explain their need for digital signage,
“I was in a school in Nottingham. They had one screen and they were showing the school diary. I thought, that’s what I want to achieve, but across twenty six schools. So, it was at that point I got in touch with TrilbyTV and I said ‘right, we have a problem. Can you come and help us out with it?’”
As Rebecca and Phil highlight, communicating with hundreds of busy members of staff across multiple schools can be a challenge. How can trust staff make sure that every member of their community is on the same page when they’re not in the same place? TrilbyTV is a simple, cost-effective answer to this common problem. Their Multisite feature is a powerful tool for users working in Multi Academy Trusts, groups, or school districts. TrilbyTV Multisite gives administrators at the trust more control over users, players and content in all of their schools.
When Transform Trust realised that their current staff communications – newsletters, emails, and Microsoft Teams – weren’t effective for delivering key messages, they decided to roll out TrilbyTV in every staffroom across the Trust. The Multisite feature made this quick and straightforward: instead of distributing presentations to each school, staff at the trust use a single presentation which is pushed out to staffroom screens.
Sarah Doig, PA to the CEO at Transform Trust, manages the content creation process and talked about the benefits of TrilbyTV,
“It’s really helped us get into staffrooms so staff haven’t got to trawl through things: it’s there, it’s clear. We’ve had more interaction from staff, we’ve had more sign-ups to events, many more of our newsletters have been read. It’s been a really great addition.”
This was expanded further by Mark Lowe, Headteacher at Sneinton St Stephen’s CofE Primary School, part of Transform Trust. Mark has seen how effective digital signage has been for staff at the school,
“The trust has been able to deliver messaging to staff about employee benefits, key events and CPD that’s coming up. It’s become a way that our staff can join in with a much bigger community and engage in the life of the trust.”
TrilbyTV has enabled Transform Trust to create a mixture of content and display different information across their screens. Giving access to multiple staff members has brought a reality of shared ownership around digital signage.
